StayVue has zero tolerance for child exploitation, abuse, or endangerment. This policy explains how we protect children, what we expect from property hosts, and how to report child safety concerns.
1. Overview
StayVue Technologies ("StayVue", "we", "us") provides property monitoring tools including live cameras, access control, and security alerts. Because our Service may be used in residential and hospitality environments where children may be present, we maintain strict child safety standards.
This Child Safety Policy applies to all users of the StayVue website, mobile app, and connected camera systems. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
2. Our Commitment
We are committed to:
- Preventing the use of StayVue to exploit, harm, or endanger children
- Designing our platform with privacy and safety controls that reduce risk to minors
- Responding promptly to credible child safety reports
- Cooperating with law enforcement and child protection agencies where required by law
- Removing accounts and content that violate this policy without delay
Child safety is a shared responsibility. StayVue provides the tools and enforcement; property hosts and account holders are responsible for lawful, ethical use of cameras on their premises.
3. Age Restrictions
StayVue accounts may only be created and managed by individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 18.
Parents and guardians who allow minors to use a property monitored by StayVue must ensure that such use is supervised and lawful. Minors must not be granted independent account access, administrative privileges, or unrestricted camera viewing rights.
If you believe a child under 18 has created an account or provided personal data to StayVue, contact us immediately at safety@stayvue.com and we will take appropriate action, including account suspension and data deletion where applicable.
4. Camera Use & Minors
Property monitoring cameras must never be used to observe, record, or store footage of minors in private areas. Hosts and operators must comply with all applicable surveillance, privacy, and tenancy laws in their jurisdiction.
| Area Type | Policy |
|---|---|
| Common areas | Cameras may be used in entrances, driveways, and shared hallways where signage and local law permit, provided minors are not targeted or singled out. |
| Private bedrooms & bathrooms | Cameras are strictly prohibited in spaces where minors (or any guest) have a reasonable expectation of privacy. |
| Changing areas & pools | Recording in areas where minors may be undressed is prohibited unless explicitly required by law and operated by a licensed authority. |
| Audio recording | Audio capture involving minors is prohibited where two-party or all-party consent laws apply, unless clearly disclosed and legally permitted. |
StayVue provides camera placement guidance during onboarding. Hosts are solely responsible for correct installation, disclosure to guests, and compliance with local regulations.
5. Host Responsibilities
If you operate StayVue cameras on a property where children may be present — including short-term rentals, family homes, or staff accommodations — you must:
- Disclose the presence and location of all active cameras to guests, tenants, and staff before they occupy the property
- Restrict camera access to authorised adults only; never share live feeds or recordings involving minors publicly
- Use time-limited guest access codes and revoke access immediately after checkout
- Enable motion alerts and review footage only for legitimate security purposes
- Delete or archive footage according to your plan retention settings and never retain recordings of minors longer than necessary
- Immediately disable and report any camera that may have captured a minor in a private setting
Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination.
6. Prohibited Conduct
The following activities are strictly forbidden on StayVue and will result in immediate account termination and referral to authorities where appropriate:
- Creating, storing, sharing, or distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form
- Using StayVue cameras to groom, stalk, harass, or exploit minors
- Live-streaming or sharing footage of minors in private or semi-private settings without lawful authority
- Attempting to identify, locate, or contact minors through StayVue data or footage
- Circumventing privacy controls, access restrictions, or retention limits to obtain footage of minors
- Using the platform to facilitate child trafficking, abduction, or any form of child endangerment
We use automated detection tools and human review to identify policy violations. Confirmed violations are reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or equivalent regional authorities as required by law.
7. Reporting Concerns
If you encounter content, behaviour, or camera usage on StayVue that may endanger a child, report it immediately. Do not download, share, or forward suspected CSAM — this may be illegal.
Email safety@stayvue.com with the account email, property name, camera ID, and a description of the concern. We respond to urgent child safety reports within 24 hours.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Do not wait for StayVue to respond before calling the police.
In the StayVue app, go to Settings → Help → Report a Safety Concern to flag an account or footage for review by our Trust & Safety team.
All reports are treated confidentially. We will not disclose your identity to the reported party unless required by law.
8. Law Enforcement & Regulatory Cooperation
StayVue cooperates with law enforcement agencies, child protection organisations, and regulatory bodies investigating child safety matters. We may preserve and disclose account data, access logs, and footage where:
- We receive a valid legal request, court order, or subpoena
- We have a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm to a child
- We are legally required to report suspected child abuse or exploitation
Law enforcement agencies may submit requests to legal@stayvue.com. Emergency disclosure requests are prioritised and reviewed around the clock.
9. Data Handling Involving Minors
Where footage incidentally captures a minor in a lawful common area, it is treated with heightened protection:
- Footage is encrypted at rest and access is logged and restricted to authorised account holders
- We do not use footage involving minors for marketing, analytics, or AI model training
- Retention follows your plan settings; we recommend the shortest retention period practical for your use case
- Deletion requests involving minor-related footage are processed on a priority basis — see our Data Deletion Policy
If footage is found to have been captured unlawfully, we will delete it promptly and notify affected account holders and authorities as required.
10. Safety Education & Resources
StayVue provides hosts with onboarding materials covering lawful camera placement, guest disclosure templates, and child safety best practices. We encourage all users to review:
- Our camera placement checklist (available in the app under Setup Guide)
- Local surveillance and tenancy laws applicable to your property
- Resources from organisations such as NCMEC, the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), and your national child protection helpline
Hosts operating properties that regularly accommodate families should review camera configurations quarterly and after any renovation or device change.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Child Safety Policy to reflect changes in law, technology, or our Service. Material changes will be communicated by email to account holders and noted on this page. Continued use of StayVue after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
